SANTIAGO BRUNI
My name is Santiago Bruni, and I’m an Art Director and poster illustrator based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I studied Advertising at Miami Ad School, where I was nominated for awards like D&AD New Blood and won the Top Dogs Awards. I’ve worked with brands like MUBI, Fernet 1882, AMC, Netflix, and E!, and I’m currently an artist at Hero Complex Gallery. As a huge pop culture fan, I bring passion and storytelling into every project I create.
Robocop
I’ve been wanting to do this one for a while. A while ago I was struggling with illustration a little bit because I used to do a lot of “floating heads” posters, and this year I started to do a lot more graphic design, so I’ve been having a rough time finding a balance between the 2 technics.
And this week I came to the conclusion of using illustrations when it looks good and it fits the movie/show. And Robocop was just that. I didn’t want to make a floating head poster with all the characters, I wanted to make something big and detailed. Plus I really wanted it to look cool and colorful, filled with 80’s neon nostalgia that would look great on a vinyl LP, so I also took a lot of inspiration from Hajime Sorayama for it.
I also thought it would look like a good MONDO-like vinyl cover. I actually got to meet the folks at MONDO a couple of weeks ago in New York, and talked with Peter Santa Maria, Hector Arce and Josh Manderville who were super nice and took the time to answer all my questions and look at my work.
